Security, Technology Audit Of All Prisons Is Underway In Telangana: Officials

Hyderabad: Telangana prisons department has taken up a comprehensive security audit across all prisons in the State. The exercise is being carried out for the first time in the country, to strengthen prisons security and operational standards.

A large-scale security audit of all prisons covering Central Prisons, District Jails, Special Prisons for Women, Special Sub Jails, and Sub Jails in Telangana is underway under the supervision of Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director-General of Prisons and Correctional Services.

The audit is mainly focusing on critical areas such as main gate security, surveillance systems, structural security, security equipment and armoury, staff supervision, inmate management, searches and contraband control, health and hygiene, record management, welfare and rehabilitation, incident documentation, infrastructure safety and emergency preparedness.

The auditing is aimed at strengthening the overall security architecture of prisons, enhancing operational transparency and improving the quality of services. The department is setting a new benchmark for correctional administration in the country, underscoring a holistic approach toward creating a safer, more secure environment that prioritizes both institutional discipline and inmate welfare.

The exercise reflects the department’s strong commitment to upholding the principles of justice, rehabilitation, and human dignity within correctional facilities, officials said.
