Secunderabad Youth Murder Sparks Protest

Victim’s family stages road protest with body; heavy police deployment in Chilkalguda

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Chilkalguda of Secunderabad after the relatives of a youth who was murdered late on Thursday night staged a protest on the road with his body, alleging that the killing was linked to a love affair. The protesters demanded strict punishment for the accused.

The situation turned tense when the agitating relatives allegedly tried to march towards the woman’s house, prompting police to intervene and stop them. Heavy police deployment was made in the area to maintain law and order.

The deceased was identified as Yavan (23), a third-year BTech student from Jawaharnagar. According to police, he had been in a relationship with a young woman from Sitaphalmandi for the past four years. After learning about the affair, the woman’s family had reportedly warned him against continuing the relationship.

Despite the warnings, Yavan was staying at a friend’s house in Indiranagar, Sitaphalmandi, and frequently meeting the woman.

On Thursday night, six unidentified persons allegedly arrived on three motorcycles and attacked Yavan while he was watching television. Though he tried to flee, the assailants chased and stabbed him repeatedly before escaping.

Locals shifted him to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police have launched an investigation into the murder.
