Secunderabad Railway Police Destroy Seized Ganja Worth Rs.10.05 Cr

The ganja was seized in 74 cases that were reported under the limits of Secunderabad Division

Hyderabad: Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday destroyed as many as 2,010.135 kgs of ganja worth Rs.10.05 crore at Romo Industries at Thokkapur village in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district.

The ganja was seized in 74 cases that were reported under the limits of Secunderabad Division.

While 1,419.229 kgs of ganja worth Rs.7.09 crore was seized in 49 cases in Secunderabad Urban Division, around 100.842 kgs worth Rs.50.42 lakh was seized in five cases in Secunderabad Rural Division and over 490.064 kgs worth Rs.2.45 crore was seized in 20 cases from Kazipet division, according to Secunderabad Railway Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepti.

The entire proceeding was photographed and video graphed as per drug disposal procedure by Railway District Secunderabad Drug Disposal Committee. Chandana Deepti is the Chairman of the Committee. The ganja that was seized was destroyed following directions from the court concerned.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Chandana Deepti said that a majority of the ganja was seized in 2024 and 2025, while the remaining before 2024. She further stated that the railway police destroyed ganja in two furnaces at Romo Industries, which is an expert in carrying out such procedures in a safe manner.

The substance was seized from several passengers who were caught smuggling it by travelling in trains from Odisha to Secunderabad. Fearing that the police would catch them, a few smugglers abandoned the substance on platforms and escaped, prompting the police to seize it and hand it over to the court.
