Secunderabad Cantonment: ₹8.5 crore sanctioned for 28 community hall works
Works include completing partially constructed halls, adding rooms and amenities, repairs and renovations, and constructing new multipurpose community halls.
Hyderabad: Residents of Secunderabad Cantonment are set to get improved community facilities, with the government approving ₹8.5 crore for work on 28 community halls.
The works include completing partially constructed halls, adding rooms and amenities, carrying out repairs and renovations, and constructing new multipurpose community halls.
The approval was issued through GO Rt No. 854 on Thursday, with the funds to come from the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).
According to Cantonment officials, the works were spread across eight wards, which include remainder of the works at community halls in Bapujinagar, near Arya Samaj, Jayanagar, Chinthal Basti and Netajinagar in Ward 1; facilities at Rasoolpura and Kharkana in Wards 2 and 3; and works at Picket, Fisherpura and near Dr Ambedkar Seva Sangam in Ward 4.
In Wards 5 and 6, works include additional rooms and facilities at Sanjeevaiahnagar and Harshavardhan Colony, besides repairs to halls in Mahatmanagar and near Hanuman Temple.
Multipurpose/community halls were proposed at Central Battery and Chinna Kamela in Ward 7, estimated at ₹76 lakh and ₹1.10 crore respectively, the official told DC.
Ward 8, covering Bolaram, accounts for several of the projects, including balance works at Adarshnagar, Kotha Basti and Pedda Kamela, and additional facilities at Thoti Basti, Banjara Colony and Ambedkar Community Hall in Dowton Bazaar.
Since the works fall within the jurisdiction of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, the MMC has to obtain necessary no-objection certificates, land availability certificates and other statutory permissions before starting them.
Structural stability certificates from JNTUH or another approved agency will also be required where existing or partially built structures are being completed.
The proposal had earlier been cleared by the MMC standing committee through Resolution No.102 on June 24, 2026, before being sent to the state government for approval. The government subsequently sanctioned the entire ₹8.5 crore under MMC funds, the official informed.
