Scuffle Breaks Out Between Police, BRS Leaders As Latter Try To Enter MGM Hospital
Tensions flared at Warangal’s MGM Hospital as police stopped BRS leaders from meeting patients injured in ceiling plaster falls.
A scuffle broke out between police and BRS leaders and workers led by former government chief whip and former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar when the latter tried to enter MGM Hospital in Warangal on Tuesday.
Five people had been injured when plaster of the ceiling in the Aarogyasri ward of the 60-year-old hospital fell on patients on Sunday. Another portion of the ceiling reportedly fell in the RICU ward on Tuesday.
The former MLA had arrived to assess why the recurring incidents of ceiling plaster falling in MGM Hospital and injuring patients.
As Vinay Bhaskar and his followers tried to enter the hospital and meet the affected patients, police stopped them at the main gate. They then occupied the road and started raising slogans against the Congress government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. During the ensuing scuffle, the former MLA reportedly suffered injuries on his hand and leg.
The former MLA alleged that police kicked him in the abdomen and forcibly shifted him to the private Azara Hospital when he sought treatment at the MGM Hospital. He is continuing to undergo treatment at the private hospital.
