SC/St Welfare Measures in Education Department Lauded
Commission reviews implementation of quotas, school schemes and student admissions

Hyderabad: The Telangana SC/ST commission has expressed satisfaction over the implementation of reservations and welfare measures for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state's school education department. A review meeting was held on Wednesday at 11 am, attended by commission chairman Bakki Venkataiah and other members, in the presence of School Director Dr E. Naveen Nicolas and district education officials who joined virtually.
The discussion covered reservation rules, roster points, backlog vacancies and admissions under the best available schools scheme, TG model schools, and KGBVs. Officials also examined provisions for students under the Badi Bata programme, the supply of books and uniforms and the status of teacher recruitment and promotions. Work taken up through the AAPC in schools also came up during the meeting.
Commission members said they were satisfied with the department’s efforts so far and asked District Education Officers (DEOs) to facilitate the admission process without creating obstacles for eligible students.
