SC/ST Court Strikes Down Case Against Renuka

Congress leader Renuka Choudhary cleared of charges

Nalgonda: The SC/ST Special Court in Khammam district has dismissed a case against Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Renuka Choudhary. Following the verdict, Congress members held a rally from the district court to the party’s district office in Khammam town.

Earlier, the High Court had directed an investigation into a complaint by B. Kalavathi, who alleged that in 2014, Renuka Choudhary had taken Rs 1.10 crore from her husband, Ramji, in exchange for promising her a Wyra Assembly ticket, and had then insulted her on caste grounds when she sought repayment. On that basis, Khammam police registered an FIR under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

On Wednesday, the Special Court judge acquitted Renuka Choudhary, ruling that the prosecution failed to prove the charges against her.

Speaking to the media at the Congress district office, Renuka Choudhary reiterated that the allegations were false and politically motivated, and said the court’s decision had fully vindicated her.
