Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified security measures in view of the current circumstances and the ongoing summer rush which is expected to continue till mid-June. Security personnel have increased their frequency of checks, with dog squads and metal detectors deployed at major locations, said an SCR official. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel in plainclothes were mingling with passengers, monitoring movement and questioning suspicious individuals. CCTV surveillance is also being closely monitored, they said, talking to Deccan Chronicle.

To accommodate the surge in passengers, SCR has attached 54 additional coaches of various categories to 24 trains operating through different city-bound routes. These additional coaches, effective from Wednesday, will remain in service till June 23. Meanwhile, to minimise inconvenience to passengers due to the pre-non-interlocking works at Mahbubabad station, temporary stoppages have been arranged at Kesamudram. The third-line work between Kazipet and Kondapalli is also underway.
