Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) officials will conduct surprise inspections at non-interlocked level crossing gates and ensure strict compliance with prescribed safety rules, general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said on Monday.
At a review meeting on the safety of train operations across the zone, Srivastava directed officials to maintain constant vigilance and reinforce safety awareness among staff. He also emphasised regular refresher courses to keep personnel updated on safety protocols, rules and operational practices.
The general manager reviewed signal visibility and obstructions caused by overgrown trees and branches. He instructed officials to prune tree branches wherever required to improve signal visibility for loco pilots and ensure safe and uninterrupted train operations.
Srivastava also stressed regular counselling of field-level and contractual staff on adherence to safety guidelines, particularly at points and crossings. He directed officials to ensure that construction materials were not left near railway tracks.
