South Central Railway booked 13,964 passengers for ticketless or irregular travel during a three-day drive, collecting ₹1.28 crore in penalties.
South Central Railway (SCR) booked 13,964 passengers travelling without tickets or travelling irregularly during a three-day special ticket-checking drive conducted from Monday ahead of the long festival holiday period. According to a release, SCR collected `1.28 crore during the drive. This apart, the drive helped detect 1,189 passengers carrying unbooked luggage. The staff also found 37 passengers littering railway premises and collected `6,400 in penalties. Five unauthorised hawkers were penalised `10,000, while seven passengers found smoking on railway premises were penalised `14,000. During the drive, ticket-checking staff interacted with passengers and sensitised them to fire hazards associated with smoking on trains and railway premises. Passengers were also urged to refrain from littering and maintain cleanliness at railway stations and on trains.
