SCR Announces 16 Sankranti Special Trains Between Secunderabad, Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road
The special services will operate on the Secunderabad–Srikakulam Road and Srikakulam Road–Secunderabad routes

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the operation of 16 additional Sankranti special trains to clear the expected surge in passenger traffic during the festival season. The specials will connect Secunderabad, Vikarabad, and Srikakulam Road on select dates in January 2026, offering relief to travellers heading towards Telangana and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The special services will operate on the Secunderabad–Srikakulam Road and Srikakulam Road–Secunderabad routes under train numbers 07288, 07289, 07290, 07291, 07292 and 07293. These trains will depart during night hours from late December 2025 and arrive at their destinations the following day, covering peak Sankranti travel dates in early and mid-January 2026.
Additionally, SCR will operate special trains between Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road (07294/07295) to cater to festive travelers from interior Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh.
As per the schedule, Train No. 07288 Secunderabad–Srikakulam Road will depart at 19:00 hrs and reach Srikakulam Road at 12:30 hrs the next day. Its return service, Train No. 07289, will depart from Srikakulam Road at 15:30 hours and arrive in Secunderabad at 08:10 hours the following morning on the notified January 2026 dates. Other special trains on this corridor will follow similar overnight running patterns, ensuring additional berth availability for long-distance travellers.
The Secunderabad–Srikakulam Road specials will halt at key stations such as Charlapalli, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Rayanapadu, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Anaparthi, Samalkot, Annavaram, Tuni, Yelamanchili, Anakapalli, Duvvada, Pendurti, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram and Chipurupalli in both directions.
The Vikarabad–Srikakulam Road specials will run via Lingampalli, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Charlapalli, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Rayanapadu, and Eluru before continuing through the coastal Andhra section with similar halts.
SCR has urged passengers travelling towards north coastal Andhra Pradesh during Sankranti to utilise these special trains instead of overcrowding regular services. Passengers are advised to check detailed schedules, stoppages, and operating dates on the SCR website, the NTES, or at railway enquiry counters, and to book tickets well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
