Schools Shut In Mahabubabad Amid Heavy Rain Alert

Mahabubabad:The Mahabubabad district administration has declared a holiday for all government, aided and private schools on Thursday, September 24, following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the district.
The holiday was declared in view of the forecast of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
The district education officer (DEO) issued orders on Wednesday, stating that the decision was taken in the interest of the safety of students, teachers and other staff. The administration apprehended waterlogging, overflowing streams and canals and slippery roads in several parts of the district due to the forecast rainfall.
The holiday will apply to primary, upper primary and high schools across the district. The DEO said the decision was taken as per the directions of the district collector.
The DEO warned school managements against conducting classes on the holiday and said action would be initiated against those violating the orders.
Mandal education officers, headmasters and school managements have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
