Schools Against Long SSC Exam Schedule

TRSMA says month-long exams, overlaps and summer heat will burden schools, learners

Hyderabad: School managements have asked the school education department to revisit the SSC Public Examination timetable, saying the month-long schedule would strain students and leave schools handling difficult conditions during peak summer. The Telangana Recognised School Management Association (TRSMA) said the new plan departed from the shorter pattern followed earlier and had raised concerns across unaided private schools.

“The proposed schedule is longer compared to the earlier system, where examinations were conducted within a shorter and more manageable time frame,” the letter said.

The TRSMA said that students would face long gaps between papers, which may increase pressure through the extended examination cycle. The association added that many schools will struggle to manage staff and logistics for nearly four weeks, and this would disrupt their regular work.

Another point raised in the letter was the timing of SA-2 examinations for Classes up to IX. Those tests start on April 10, and SSC exams are scheduled from April 10-16. TRSMA said this overlap will create confusion for schools and students. They said schools that are designated as SSC centres will still need to run classes for younger students in the afternoons during the hottest part of the season, which may be hard to manage.

The association also said students preparing for competitive exams will lose important study time because of the prolonged timetable.
