SCCL to Consider Reappointment of Workers Dismissed for Absenteeism Between 2023 and 2025

SCCL has invited applications from former employees dismissed for unauthorised absence during the three-year period, with a high-power committee set to review eligible cases.

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to review the cases of ex-employees, who were dismissed for unauthorised absenteeism between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025, and has invited applications from those willing to be considered for reappointment.

The decision comes against the backdrop of repeated concerns over absenteeism in Singareni mines. Company sources have earlier acknowledged that chronic absenteeism has affected production in several areas. The current exercise is also understood to have been taken up following requests from public representatives of the coal belt region to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for providing an opportunity to dismissed workers.

A circular issued on October 31 by the industrial relations wing of the corporate personnel department stated that the move was in line with the memorandum of settlement dated August 27. Under the settlement, a high-power committee headed by the director (personnel, administration & welfare) will examine the cases of eligible employees. Area general managers have been directed to get the applications scrutinised by an area-level committee consisting of the staff officer to the general manager, area personnel head, and area IED head.
