SCCL Holds Open House, Denies Scope for Coal Theft
Open house details GPS tracking and anti-theft measures in coal operations

Mancherial: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) management on Sunday held an open house to explain its operations and coal production systems, rejecting allegations of diversion of coal reserves and irregularities raised by BRS leaders.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and IT minister D. Sridhar Babu asked officials to address concerns over alleged pilferage and theft of coal. Directors of various SCCL departments responded to the allegations and outlined monitoring mechanisms.
Officials said coal production, transportation and delivery were tracked through GPS-based geo-tagging systems and monitored through SAP platforms. They said vehicle movement, loading and unloading, and dispatch to destinations were recorded and supervised, leaving no scope for diversion. The management added that an Anti-Coal Theft Squad was functioning and geo-tagging had been in use since 2015.
They also said updated software systems were being used to prevent cyber fraud in transactions.
Bhatti said the open house was aimed at presenting facts on transparency measures in SCCL operations. He urged BRS leaders, including T. Harish Rao, not to politicise the issue, stating that Singareni was a public asset and a matter of workers’ self-respect.
He said making allegations against SCCL amounted to undermining its workforce.
Sridhar Babu said there was no scope for pilferage of coal and reiterated that the government was committed to protecting the organisation and ensuring the welfare of its employees.
The ministers also visited the Srirampur OCP extension. Mancherial MLA Premsagar Rao, SCCL CMD Dr Jyoti Buddha Prakash and other officials were present.
