SC, ST Commission Chief Lauds Progress Made By SC Welfare Institutions
The review meeting was attended by SC/ST commission members Rambabu Nayak, Konkati Lakshminarayana and TGSWREIS officials: Reports

HYDERABAD: SC, ST commission chairman Bakkani Venkataiah lauded social welfare institutions for emerging as national models of inclusive, accountable and innovative education, while chairing a review meeting at the DSS Bhavan on Wednesday.
He assessed the implementation of the Rule of Reservation across social welfare institutions and interacted with zonal officers virtually.
Venkataiah expressed satisfaction over the ongoing transformation in SC Gurukuls and said he would submit a report to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, recommending the adoption of these successful practices in ST, BC and minority welfare educational societies. “SC Gurukuls are not only achieving academic excellence but are also leading financial discipline and institutional reforms,” he added.
He appreciated Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) secretary Dr Alagu Varsini for introducing impactful academic modules such as the ‘Quarter Group’ strategy.
During the interaction, zonal officers raised issues of stray dogs and monkey intrusions in several campuses, with the Rangareddy district flagged in particular. The secretary immediately directed the officers concerned to submit solar fencing proposals.
Dr Varsini said that several initiatives like free of cost coding courses are being conducted in the Gurukuls without placing financial burden on the system. Venkaiah stressed the need for mandatory mental health counselling for students and urged zonal officers to ensure their presence at all parent-teacher meetings. “The real issues faced by students and hostels are understood only through direct engagement.” He also promised to work with the government to mobilise additional funds to strengthen infrastructure, and said that a preliminary report had already been submitted to Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
The review meeting was attended by SC/ST commission members Rambabu Nayak, Konkati Lakshminarayana and TGSWREIS officials.
