SC Setback For Telangana Govt In Shantha Sriram Constructions Case
Shanta Sriram Constructions Pvt. Ltd complained of interference by HYDRAA, along with other departments and the police, on its private land measuring 40 acres in Survey Nos. 1 and 2 of Lothukunta village in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed by the Telangana government challenging the High Court’s judgment in favour of Shantha Sriram Constructions. The Apex Court observed that the state government had failed to challenge the High Court’s judgment within the stipulated time.
A bench headed by Justice Deepankar Gupta dismissed the petition filed by the Telangana government. The court observed that the 40 acres of land in Secunderabad is private property belonging to Shantha Sriram Private Limited.

A division bench of the Telangana High Court suspended the order of a single judge directing the state government to relieve HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath from the post over alleged repeated wilful disobedience of court orders in connection with a 40-acre land parcel at Lothkunta in Secunderabad. The bench also directed Ranganath and HYDRAA officials to not to enter or interfere with the disputed property until further orders.
