SC dismisses petitions against TGPSC
Commission set to release group-1 results soon

Hyderabad:The Supreme Court dismissed two petitions that challenged the Group-1 recruitment process. This clears the way for the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to release the results.
Justice Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha and Justice Manoj Misra heard the petitions filed by B. Sruthi and Sushma Nareddy and dismissed them. The Telangana High Court had earlier dismissed all objections raised against the recruitment process.
It may be recalled that the commission had initiated the Group-1 recruitments in 2022 to fill 503 positions. The process faced legal challenges, primarily with regard to GO No. 29 that issued in February 2024.
The GO changed the selection criteria for the Group-1 mains, which many candidates argued had altered reservation norms mid-process and disadvantaged marginalised communities.
Several petitions were filed challenging the legality of GO 29, but the Telangana High Court dismissed them. The exams were conducted from October 21-27 last year.
With the Supreme Court dismissing the last remaining petitions, the TGSPSC can proceed with releasing the results. This recruitment will be the first Group-1 appointments since the state's formation 11 years ago.
