HYDERABAD: A 32-year-old woman suffering from depression allegedly died by suicide after leaping from the terrace of a multi-storey apartment complex in KPHB Colony on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sheethal, a native of Kannur in Kerala. According to KPHB Sub-Inspector Shashidhar, Sheethal was married to Sonu Purushothaman, a Deputy Manager at State Bank of India (SBI), six years ago. The couple, along with their four-year-old daughter and Purushothaman’s parents, resided on the fifth floor of Panchavati Apartments in KPHB Phase 6.
Around 4 pm on Monday, Sheethal went to the apartment building's terrace staircase, where she sat for about 10 minutes before heading to the terrace and jumping into the gated compound below. She died on the spot from severe multiple injuries.
Upon receiving the alert, the KPHB police reached the scene and launched an inquiry. Inquiries with her husband and her brother in Kerala revealed that Sheethal had been undergoing medical treatment for severe depression for some time.
