Only first blood relatives have been chosen for the travel as the DNA testing needs to be done for identification with the deceased who were charred to death in the accident.

Hyderabad: With the government arranging travel for the relatives of the deceased who died in the tragic bus accident that occurred at AL-Mufriha, 34 blood relatives and four State Haj Committee officials will leave for Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Wednesday for performing the last rites of the deceased.

Following the incident, the Committee acted swiftly and made travel arrangements, including coordinating with Regional Passport Office Hyderabad, for the victims families who have early morning flight (around 3am).

Only first blood relatives have been chosen for the travel as the DNA testing needs to be done for identification with the deceased who were charred to death in the accident.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Haj Committee Chairman, Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani, said “Two people from each family, particularly blood relatives, are considered for the DNA testing. The government is taking care of the burial process and accommodation for the families. Necessary arrangements are being made to handover the death certificates to the family”.

According to Biyabani, the Committee could not find blood relatives of two families who passed away in the incident. Plans are on to send a few more family members which was delayed because of passport issue, he said.

Meanwhile, an official delegation, led by Minorities Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, has already reached Saudi Arabia and has been coordinating with the government there through the Indian embassy. The delegation is trying to ensure that the deceased's last rites are performed in Madina and handover personal belongings of the victims to their families.

According to officials, the government will assist the family members till they reach the city safely.
