Sarpanch Polls See Record Turnout in Karimnagar Region
Rajanna Sircilla topped the region with 82.47%, followed by Jagtial with 82.27%. Karimnagar district registered 81.42%, continuing the trend of high engagement.

Karimnagar: The first phase of Gram Panchayat elections witnessed a historic voter turnout across the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Thursday, with several areas recording participation rates above 80 per cent—significantly higher than in Assembly elections.
Three of the four districts — Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial and Karimnagar — crossed the 80 per cent mark, reflecting intense competition for Sarpanch and Ward Member posts and strong public interest in village-level governance.
Rajanna Sircilla topped the region with 82.47%, followed by Jagtial with 82.27%. Karimnagar district registered 81.42%, continuing the trend of high engagement.
Peddapalli district, however, recorded a comparatively lower but still substantial turnout of 73.68%, around 8–9 percentage points below its neighbouring districts.
Karimnagar district collector Pamela Satpathy inspected polling stations, directed presiding officers to strictly verify voter details, and ensured all voters present in queues before 1 p.m. were allowed to cast their vote.
Counting began peacefully. Karimnagar police commissioner Gouse Alam reviewed arrangements at the centres and monitored security.
To maintain order, Section 162 of the BRS Act, prohibiting assembly of five or more persons, was enforced in the five mandals under the Karimnagar Police Commissionerate limits.
