Saraswati Pushkaralu Set for Grand Start

Collector Rahul Sharma added that 30 free bus services will be operated from a temporary bus stand to the bathing ghats. He urged devotees to make use of these services for convenience and safety.

Warangal: District collector Rahul Sharma directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure seamless arrangements for devotees during the 12-day Saraswati Pushkaralu celebrations starting on Thursday. He was speaking at a coordination meeting with officials from various departments at the Kalyana Mandapam of Kaleshwaram temple in Mahadevpur mandal on Wednesday.

The festivities will begin on Thursday morning with IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu offering special prayers. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will unveil a statue of Goddess Saraswati Devi in the evening and take part in the Godavari Harathi performed by Kashi Pandits.

The collector said that elaborate preparations had been made for the event, which is expected to draw nearly one lakh devotees daily. He instructed officials to personally inspect their assigned areas in advance and warned of strict action against those absent or negligent in discharging their duties.

Anticipating a large turnout of people who could not attend the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, officials expect heavy crowds at the Triveni Sangamam — the sacred confluence of Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswati rivers — at Kaleshwaram.

To facilitate the crowd movement, temporary shelters, changing rooms and shower facilities have been set up at Saraswati Ghat and Main Ghat. Food courts and stalls have also been arranged. A control room is being established to address issues in real time. Officials were instructed to enforce queue systems for darshan of the presiding deities and adhere strictly to VIP protocol. Fifty expert swimmers, along with life jackets and boats, will be on 27x7 standby to handle emergencies.

Collector Rahul Sharma added that 30 free bus services will be operated from a temporary bus stand to the bathing ghats. He urged devotees to make use of these services for convenience and safety.

Endowments department principal secretary Shailaja Ramayier inspected the arrangements and said the government is conducting the Saraswati Pushkaralu on a prestigious note — for the first time in Telangana — as the event is held once every 12 years. Ramayier emphasised that all departments must maintain a high alert and work in coordination to ensure the event’s grand success.
