Hyderabad: The 12-day sacred festival Saraswati Pushkaralu at Kaleshwaram ended on Monday, with millions bidding an emotional yet fulfilled goodbye to the river, revered as a living deity.
Beyond traditional rituals, this Pushkaralu blended devotion with discipline, featuring eco-friendly measures like zero-plastic zones, volunteer-led riverfront monitoring, and sustainable practices.
Unlike past events marked by chaos and pollution, this year saw minimal overcrowding and littering. "The river felt alive—clean, calm, and powerful," said Praveena, a first-time visitor from Vizag.
The local administration ensured a seamless event with innovations like drone surveillance, AI-based crowd prediction, mobile ghats, water ATMs, and special zones for the elderly.
For many, the pilgrimage was more than a ritual to cleanse sins; it symbolized deeper wisdom. "The Saraswati we seek outside flows within," a priest remarked during the final Harathi.
As the festival ends, the river returns to silence, leaving a lasting spiritual echo.
