Hyderabad Police Issue Sankranti Travel Advisory for Residents Going Out of City

Sajjanar appeals for public cooperation to prevent thefts during festive season; advises against leaving valuables in locked houses

Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Sankranti, Hyderabad police have issued a safety advisory to citizens planning to travel to their native places. City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Sunday appealed to citizens to take proactive measures to safeguard their locked houses so as to prevent property offences during the holidays.

Sajjanar told citizens to inform their local police station or beat officers before leaving the city. “Local police should be informed about the locked houses. It will allow our personnel to include those premises in their regular patrol routes. In modern policing, we are committed to ensure safety and public cooperation is the first line of defense in crime prevention,” Sajjanar added.

Police also advised travellers not to leave large sums of cash, gold ornaments, or other valuables in their homes. Citizens were encouraged to secure such assets in bank lockers or alternative safe locations before heading out to native places during holidays.

“We want to ensure that every citizen should celebrate the festival with peace of mind. Simple precautions such as informing local beat staffers and securing valuables go a long way in deterring opportunistic thefts. Our officers will stay on high alert during festivals,” Sajjanar, further said. The commissioner also told residents to take help of Dial 100 helpline, in case of any suspicious movement around residential colonies.
