Sankranti Rush Chokes NH-65, Six-Km Traffic Jam After Lorry Overturns
Traffic movement was also affected at Chityal and Peddakaparthy due to the heavy rush in the early hours

Nalgonda: Heavy vehicular traffic was witnessed on National Highway No. 65 on Tuesday as thousands of people left Hyderabad for their native places ahead of the Sankranti festival, leading to congestion at several points along the highway.
With the three-day Sankranti celebrations set to begin on Wednesday, a large number of commuters travelled in personal vehicles, resulting in slow-moving traffic and long queues at toll plazas and junctions.
At the Panthangi toll plaza, vehicles heading towards Vijayawada from Hyderabad were backed up for nearly a kilometre. Police and toll plaza staff regulated traffic, opening 12 out of the 16 toll gates to ease congestion.
Traffic movement was also affected at Chityal and Peddakaparthy due to the heavy rush in the early hours. The Korlapahad toll plaza on NH-65 likewise witnessed long queues of vehicles.
A major traffic jam was reported on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada stretch of NH-65 at Inamguda in Abdullapurmet mandal after a wood-laden lorry overturned, blocking the road. The lorry fell across the carriageway and timber scattered on the road, causing a traffic jam extending nearly six kilometres from Inamguda to the Outer Ring Road.
Police rushed to the spot and used a crane to remove the lorry and clear the road, after which traffic movement gradually returned to normal.
