Sajjanar Reviews On-The-Spot FIR Drive With Senior Cops
Sajjanar said the initiative was introduced to ensure that approaching the police does not become an added burden for victims who are physically or mentally distressed after an incident.

Hyderabad: Following the Telangana Police initiative to enable on-the-spot registration of FIRs, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Wednesday held a meeting with senior officers and directed them to take effective steps for its implementation.
Sajjanar said the new Victim/Citizen-Centric policy, formulated by the Telangana CID, allows victims of certain categories of crimes to lodge complaints and register FIRs from their homes, without having to visit a police station. He said the initiative was introduced to ensure that approaching the police does not become an added burden for victims who are physically or mentally distressed after an incident.
“This policy will enable quicker assistance to victims in cases of suicides, unnatural deaths, road accidents, thefts, robberies, vehicle thefts, crimes against women and children, and ragging. Police personnel will reach the scene immediately upon receiving information, record the complaint on the spot and register the FIR. Even if victims are hospitalised, police will visit them, collect details and register the case without delay,” Sajjanar said.
He added that superintendents of police across Telangana have been instructed to create awareness about the initiative among senior officers and field staff, and to ensure its uniform implementation at the district level.
