Sajjanar Pitches for Safety of Visually-Impaired Persons
Sajjanar reminded everyone that the `White Cane Day` is observed annually on October 15 to raise awareness about the rights, safety, and self-reliance of visually challenged persons

Hyderabad: City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Wednesday participated in a 'Safety Walk' organised to mark the International ‘White Cane Day’. The walk was organised from the Media Academy office in Nampally to the Suravaram Pratap Reddy Telugu University.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar reminded everyone that the `White Cane Day` is observed annually on October 15 to raise awareness about the rights, safety, and self-reliance of visually challenged persons.
"The white cane is not just a stick; it is a symbol of independence, courage, and self-confidence for the visually-impaired," Sajjanar said.
The commissioner mentioned that the Hyderabad City Police prioritises the safety of persons with disabilities as part of its commitment to public safety.
He explained that the city traffic police is focused on ensuring pedestrian safety, especially in assisting visually-impaired persons to cross the road safely.
The commissioner extended his thanks to the representatives of "Friendly Environment for the Disabled (FED)" for organising the event, a press release issued by city police commissioner stated.
