Hyderabad:City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar flagged off the sacred Ghatam procession at the historic Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple in the Old City on Monday.
Before inaugurating the procession, Sajjanar offered special prayers seeking the blessings of Goddess Mahankali. He recalled how the Goddess’s grace protected the region during plagues and floods, and prayed for continued health and prosperity for Hyderabad.
He said elaborate security and traffic arrangements were made in coordination with government departments to ensure a smooth procession.
He thanked temple trustees, organisers, civic officials and devotees for their support, and praised police personnel for maintaining law and order throughout the festival.
Senior police officials M. Srinivas, Tafseer Iqbal, Vaibhav Gaikwad, Khare Kiran Prabhakar and R. Venkateswarlu, temple committee chairman Dr Prabhakar, general secretary Dattatreya, adviser Rajaratnam and other members were present.
