Safety Checks Flag Houseflies, Poor Oil Quality at Pista House, Mandi King

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) food safety teams found houseflies in the bakery section and fruit flies on stored carrots at Pista House in RC Puram and cooking oil in deep fryers was found to be dark and greasy at Mandi King in Manikonda.
The teams carried out separate inspections at eateries in Cyberabad limits to assess compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
At Pista House, houseflies were found in the bakery section and fruit flies on stored carrots. No hot water provision was available in one of the dishwashing areas. Kitchen windows were kept open and food items were not labelled with commodity names.
Marinated biryani mix was assigned a three-day shelf life without supporting technical evidence and drains were not adequately cleaned, with food waste observed. Medical fitness, pest control, water testing, food testing and packaging records were unavailable.
Water leakage was observed inside the walk-in chiller and rusting was observed in a refrigerator. At Mandi King, the team found that food waste was not being removed regularly and cooking oil in deep fryers was found to be dark and greasy. Water stagnation was observed on the kitchen floor and the exhaust system required thorough cleaning.
The dustbins were kept uncovered and medical fitness certificates and water analysis reports were unavailable. One freezer was found to be rusted and corroded and no FoSTaC-trained staff available. Spices and raw materials were stored in corroded plastic containers.
The team issued an improvement notice directing the Food Business Operator to rectify the identified deficiencies and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
