Sachin Sawant Targets VB RAM G, Congress Protests with MGNREGA Workers in Madnoor

First-ever visit of AICC Secretary to Madnoor Mandal marks key political moment in Kamareddy district

Madnoor (Kamareddy): The Protection of Employment Guarantee Act public meeting held at the Madnoor Mandal headquarters in Jukkal Assembly Constituency assumed major political significance with AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant strongly criticising the BJP-led Centre’s proposed “Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB RAM G)”.

The programme was organised under the leadership of Jukkal MLA Thota Laxmikantha Rao and Kamareddy District Congress Committee (DCC) President Ayle Mallikarjun. It marked the first-ever visit of an AICC Secretary to Madnoor Mandal, Jukkal Constituency and Kamareddy district, drawing wide political attention.

Addressing the gathering, Sachin Sawant alleged that VB RAM G was aimed at weakening and eventually dismantling MGNREGA by diluting the legally guaranteed right to employment and reducing funds. He warned that the move would erode the powers of Gram Panchayats and centralise authority, posing a threat to rural democracy and livelihoods.

In a symbolic protest, Congress leaders joined MGNREGA workers on the ground and participated in manual labour. Sachin Sawant, MLA Thota Laxmikantha Rao, DCC President Ayle Mallikarjun and Sai Patel Avalgaonkar interacted with workers to understand their issues.

The event concluded with the felicitation of Sachin Sawant, with Congress leaders calling the Madnoor meeting a milestone in Telangana’s rural political discourse and a strong reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights.
