WARANGAL: Veteran cricketer and a representative of the Warangal Cricket Association M. Udaya Bhan on Tuesday alleged discrimination being faced by young cricketers of Warangal district.
He said while significant efforts have been made for the development of the district cricket, young talent in Warangal and other districts continue to suffer compared to players from Hyderabad.
Bhan pointed out that the root of this inequality lay in the structural imbalance within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The general body of HCA consists of over 200 members from clubs and institutions in Hyderabad while other districts including Warangal are represented by a single member. This disproportionate representation has affected the decision-making processes, he added.

Lack of representation means aspiring cricketers from rural and district areas are sidelined and tournaments hosted by HCA in Hyderabad rarely provide a platform for these players.
He expressed concern that lack of exposure and opportunities often forces young players to abandon the sport.
Bhan called on the cricket community, especially from Warangal, to support not only district cricketers but also to improve overall development of cricket across Telangana.
