RTC Workers Will Get 11% Fitment From July 1, Says Ponnam
The minister directed officials to complete pending compassionate appointments and expedite review of the remaining dismissed employees, noting that 244 of 490 had already been reinstated.

Hyderabad: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday said that TGSRTC employees would receive an 11 per cent fitment effective from July 1, even as he sanctioned two new depots at Eturunagaram and Peddapalli, and announced that the RTC Hospital at Tarnaka had been upgraded to a super-speciality facility.
Officials said financial measures had reduced Credit Cooperative Society (CSS) arrears from Rs 1,096.90 crore to Rs 862 crore and Provident Fund arrears from Rs 2,018.15 crore to Rs 1,714.39 crore, while Staff Retirement Benefit Scheme (SRBS) and SBT arrears declined by Rs 493.02 crore.

After a review meeting with senior officials, the minister said 2,815 buses were procured at a cost of Rs 1,078 crore between 2023 and 2026. With 1,050 e-buses in operation, officials were instructed to submit a report on profitable and loss-making services. A total of 1,137 compassionate appointments were made under the ‘Breadwinner Scheme’ and on medical invalidation grounds, including 888 conductors, 10 drivers, 43 shramiks and 196 constables.
Officials were also asked to assess the impact of the ‘Mahalakshmi Scheme’ on women’s economic empowerment and collect feedback from women’s groups operating 553 hired RTC buses. The RTC operates 10,173 buses with a workforce of 38,128 employees, covering 35 lakh kilometres daily and serving about 61 lakh passengers.
