RTC Strike Notice: Ponnam Expresses Readiness To Hold Talks With Unions
RTC JAC decided to go on an indefinite strike from May 7 in support of their demands

Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday expressed readiness to hold talks with the TGSRTC unions, which decided to go on an indefinite strike from May 7 in support of their 23 demands.
“Please understand that our financial situation is not good. The RTC workers should cooperate keeping in mind the government's financial situation. The RTC is now on the path of profit. We will discuss whenever the workers meet us on May 5 or 6 to hold talks,” he said while speaking to media persons.
As many as 40,600 employees would boycott duties, while buses may remain confined to depots from May 6 if the RTC unions did not relent and go ahead with their strike led by the RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC).
Eight unions are supporting the JAC to observe the strike in support of 23 demands.
A few days ago, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy made a fervent appeal to the TGSRTC employees, to withdraw the strike in the larger interest of RTC, which has just started getting profits.
Addressing a meeting organized in connection with May Day, he said, “The RTC is recovering from losses and just started moving on to the path of getting profits. At this juncture, it is not advisable for employees to go for a strike. The RTC is your organization and it is your responsibility to protect it from all aspects,” he said.
