RTC Staff Save Girl Student From Absconding
Driver, conductor and passengers prevent minor from fleeing, hand her over to police
Hyderabad: The crew of a TGSRTC bus saved a girl student from Telangana Minority Gurukul, Patancheru, after she ran away from the residential school, following a call from her mother.
The girl boarded a bus on Route 218 belonging to Midhani depot at Patancheru around 3.30 pm. Driver Regoti Shekar and conductor J.S. Kumar noticed her behaviour and handed her over to Saifabad police.
Shekar said the girl, aged around 12‑13 years, took a ticket to Koti. During the journey, she borrowed a fellow passenger’s phone to call her mother. Soon after, the mother called back on the same number and requested the conductor not to let the girl leave the bus, promising to reach wherever the bus was.
After this call, the girl tried to jump out of the bus but was restrained by fellow passengers. The driver and conductor then stopped the bus at Lakdikapul crossroads near the traffic police post. The traffic police immediately alerted the local law and order police.
Since the bus had to remain halted until the girl was handed over, the RTC staff arranged for the other passengers to continue their journey in another bus. Two women passengers assisted in ensuring the girl remained safe until police arrived.
Vijay Kumar, depot manager of Midhani, said, “It is a proud moment for RTC. Both employees will be felicitated by the department.”
