Rs 6 Cr Chikkadpally–Domalguda Link Bridge Inaugurated

"This bridge is useful to people going to multiple residential colonies, hostels and educational institutions in Ashoknagar, Liberty, Narayanguda, Himayatnagar and places located around these areas": Resident of Himayatnagar

HYDERABAD: The ₹6-crore Chikkadpally-Domalguda link bridge across the Hussainsagar surplus nala built by the GHMC was inaugurated on Friday, with residents of colonies on either side expressing happiness.

"This bridge is useful to people going to multiple residential colonies, hostels and educational institutions in Ashoknagar, Liberty, Narayanguda, Himayatnagar and places located around these areas," said a resident of Himayatnagar.

The link reduces the travel time by around half from Chikkadpally to Ashoknagar and Domalguda — and further towards Liberty Junction, the GHMC head office and the Secretariat. The bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity in central Hyderabad.

Speaking after the inaugural, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that with Hyderabad emerging as a sprawling metropolitan city, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had integrated planning to strengthen infrastructure in line with the city’s expanding scale.

Prabhakar said that infrastructure such as roads, stormwater drains, street lighting, parks and civic amenities must grow in proportion to the expanding population. “The Chief Minister is moving forward with comprehensive plans to address these needs. Given Hyderabad’s importance as the state headquarters and a core urban region, special priority is being accorded to its development,” he said.
