Rs 56-Lakh Ganja Seized From Two Cars on Khammam Bypass, 4 Arrested

Two others, identified as Vasu, the alleged ganja supplier from Andhra Pradesh, and Bapu Saheb Yadav, the owner of the rented car, are absconding.

Nalgonda: Four men from Maharashtra were arrested for allegedly transporting 113 kg of ganja worth Rs 56 lakh in two cars on Khammam bypass road, police said on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Ravi Jadev, 28, Gopinath Shukle, 55, Santhosh Thayappa, 40, and Mohan Bheekaji Yadav, 36, all from Osmanabad in Maharashtra.

Khammam assistant commissioner of police S.V. Ramana Murthy said the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement Force and Khammam Town-II police intercepted two cars during vehicle checking on the bypass road. Police found ganja packets weighing 113 kg concealed in the dickey and dashboards of the cars. Police said the accused had bought the ganja from a supplier in Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh at a low price and were transporting it to Maharashtra for sale at a higher price.

Two others, identified as Vasu, the alleged ganja supplier from Andhra Pradesh, and Bapu Saheb Yadav, the owner of the rented car, are absconding.
