RR Collectorate Busts Spurious Fertiliser Units
Two units manufacturing and storing counterfeit fertilisers were busted in Ranga Reddy, with MOP, DAP and complex fertilisers seized and three arrested.
It’s not only adulterated food, even the raw materials that people consume are dangerous, inspections by the Ranga Reddy Collectorate revealed. Two spurious fertiliser units were caught manufacturing counterfeit and adulterated fertilisers.
One unit was in Pedda Amberpet and another in Kuntloor, engaged in manufacturing, packaging and storing unauthorised fertilisers in the district.
The activities included stocks of Muriate of Potash (MOP), Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) and complex fertilisers. These materials were seized. Following the inspection, a complaint was lodged with police, three individuals were arrested and a criminal case registered against the shed owner.
The Agriculture Department of the Collectorate advised farmers in the district to be extra vigilant regarding spurious fertilisers. Warnings were issued to owners of old poultry sheds, godowns and vacant buildings.
They were told to be cautious while renting out abandoned poultry sheds, old godowns, iron sheds, vacant buildings and other structures. They were informed that if illegal activities take place on the rented premises, strict action will be taken against the owners, who will be named as the primary accused (A1).
According to Collectorate officials, joint inspections by the Agriculture Department and police will be conducted. Surveillance committees will be strengthened to curb manufacture, illegal storage and transportation of spurious fertilisers, with focus on old poultry sheds, iron sheds, abandoned buildings and other such sites.
