RPF to adopt new tech to enhance safety

Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) said on Friday that it was adopting technology to shift from reactive to proactive measures and implementing preventive strategies to enhance passenger safety and operational efficiency.

In a statement, the RPF said it was using artificial intelligence and big data analytics for proactive threat detection. Biometric-based seamless coach entry and CCTV surveillance with facial recognition were other features. It said GPS-enabled electronic seals had been provided for freight security.

The RPF said it was looking at integration of internet of things (IoT), advanced AI, and personalised security by 2030 to create a smart and secure rail network.

It highlighted the deployment of passenger-centric apps like Rail Madad for quick resolution of issues and Meri Saheli for women’s safety.

The RPF said it was using ‘Prabal’ (Passenger Record Analysis for Action Against Burglary) to combat ticket touting and human trafficking.

The RPF said it had rescuing over 84,000 children under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ and, using AI-driven facial recognition, apprehended criminals in Bengaluru.
