Rowdy Sheeter Barred From Rachakonda Limits

Tea Time owner barred from Rachakonda limits

Hyderabad: Rachakonda commissioner G. Sudheer Babu has issued an externment notice under the Hyderabad City Police Act against Kodula Naveen Reddy, owner of the Tea Time chain and a rowdy-sheeter involved in several violent cases, including the sensational 2022 Adibatla dentist kidnap incident.

The December 2022 abduction had unfolded like a movie chase. As many as 37 persons stormed into a house in Adibatla and abducted a young dentist on the day of her engagement. The prime accused, Naveen Reddy, 32, claimed that the woman’s parents were forcing her into another marriage despite his assertion that they were already married.

Officials said the externment order followed a detailed review of records submitted by the Adibatla inspector. Naveen Reddy, a resident of Mannaguda in Abdullapurmet mandal, faces multiple charges, including assault, attempted murder, criminal intimidation, and rioting — all threatening public peace and safety. The notice, served through the ACP Ibrahimpatnam, directs him to explain within seven days why he should not be barred from entering the Rachakonda commissionerate limits for six months.

Investigations revealed that Naveen and 36 of his associates, many of whom were employees of his franchise network, conspired to attack the victim’s house. While the police apprehended most of the accused soon after the incident, Naveen was traced and arrested in Goa. The dramatic chase scenes and videos related to the case went viral online for several days. During his stay in Goa, Naveen had also released videos claiming he was already married to the abducted doctor.

He was subsequently sent to judicial remand, and the trial in the case is ongoing. A source said that the court would determine the authenticity of Naveen’s claims during the proceedings. Police officials said the accused has continued to harass and intimidate the victim and her family, prompting the externment decision.

Once the order comes into force, Naveen Reddy will be prohibited from entering the Rachakonda commissionerate limits for six months. If found within the area during the exclusion period, the commissioner, empowered as an executive magistrate, will have the authority to send him to judicial remand.
