RMP Doctor, Nephew Drown In Godavari

According to police, Naresh and Vishnuvardhan entered a deeper stretch of the river using an inflated rubber tube. The tube slipped away due to strong currents, following which Vishnuvardhan began to drown.

WARANGAL: Two persons drowned in the Godavari River at Lakshmipuram village in Kannaigudem mandal of Mulugu district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Bommarapu Naresh, 30, an RMP doctor, and his nephew Jitte Vishnuvardhan, 20. The incident occurred when Naresh, Vishnuvardhan and a relative, Bommaraju Sampath, had gone to the riverbank.

According to police, Naresh and Vishnuvardhan entered a deeper stretch of the river using an inflated rubber tube. The tube slipped away due to strong currents, following which Vishnuvardhan began to drown. Naresh tried to rescue him, but both were pulled under water during the struggle.

Sampath alerted locals and the police. Sub-inspector E. Venkatesh, along with personnel and fishermen, launched a search operation. The bodies were recovered after about two hours.

Vishnuvardhan, a resident of Roheer village in Eturnagaram mandal, had come to Lakshmipuram three days earlier to visit relatives.
