Revanth Highlights Ambedkar’s Ideals, Stresses Welfare and Social Justice in Telangana
CM says Gandhi and Ambedkar are “two eyes of the nation”; underscores focus on Dalit welfare, education, and inclusive governance
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday paid tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar during his birth anniversary celebrations, emphasizing the enduring relevance of his ideas in governance and social transformation.
Addressing a gathering, the Chief Minister said that while Mahatma Gandhi demonstrated how battles could be won through peace, Dr. Ambedkar showed how a nation could be governed as a model for the world. He described Gandhi and Ambedkar as the “two eyes of the country,” highlighting their equal contributions to India’s progress.
Revanth Reddy noted that Dr. Ambedkar firmly believed education was the key to transforming lives and said his government is carrying forward those ideals through initiatives aimed at expanding access to quality education. He cited steps such as strengthening public schooling and improving facilities in government hostels.
The Chief Minister also stressed that the state government has been prioritizing welfare measures for Dalits, tribals, and other marginalized communities. He pointed to increased diet charges in hostels, housing schemes, and employment opportunities for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and minorities.
Referring to Telangana’s formation, he said it was made possible under Article 3 of the Constitution during the tenure of Sonia Gandhi, and acknowledged the role of marginalized sections in the statehood movement. He also mentioned cultural figures like Gaddar for inspiring the movement through song.
Revanth Reddy alleged that attempts were being made to undermine southern states in matters such as constituency delimitation, and called for collective efforts to safeguard democratic values and equitable representation.
He asserted that his government remains committed to inclusive development, social justice, and protecting the principles of democracy, urging people to support and safeguard the government’s efforts.
