Revanth Unveils Mega Urban Growth Corridors Across State

ORRs for Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam; temple; tourism corridors also planned

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced an ambitious urban expansion roadmap for Telangana, proposing a network of urban growth corridors, temple and tourism corridors, and renewable energy-driven infrastructure projects aimed at reshaping the state’s urban landscape over the next 25 years.

At a high-level review meeting with officials of the Municipal Administration and Roads & Buildings departments at MCRHRDI, the Chief Minister directed authorities to prepare plans for the Warangal–Karimnagar–Khammam growth corridor, the Mahbubnagar–Bhoothpur–Jadcherla corridor, and the Kothagudem–Palvancha–Sujathanagar corridor.

Revanth Reddy said the Warangal–Karimnagar–Khammam corridor would play a crucial role in Telangana’s future development. He also instructed officials to take up Outer Ring Road projects for Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar as part of the urban infrastructure expansion programme.

The Chief Minister stressed that all infrastructure projects should be planned with a long-term vision to cater to future needs. He directed officials to integrate towns through radial roads aligned close to major municipalities.

Emphasising sustainable urbanisation, Revanth Reddy said solid waste management systems, wastewater treatment plants and renewable energy units should form an integral part of urban planning. He instructed officials to prioritise advanced technology in underground drainage systems and promote the use of Electric Vehicles to reduce operational costs.

The Chief Minister said only EV vehicles should be hired henceforth for official purposes and directed officials to ensure renewable energy generation facilities in urban areas.

The meeting also discussed installation of multi-utility towers to reduce radiation levels, smart poles across cities and towns, AI-based traffic management systems, and localised infrastructure planning suited to the population needs of individual urban centres.

Officials were instructed to make the use of treated water from the Sewage and Wastewater Management Board mandatory for all construction activities.

The Chief Minister also reviewed proposals for a Temple Corridor connecting Nalgonda and Yadagirigutta, and a Tourism Corridor linking Adilabad, Nagoba Temple, Basara and the Kadem Project.

He further directed officials to upgrade the Alampur Jogulamba Temple in view of the upcoming Krishna Pushkarams.

Reviewing airport infrastructure plans, Revanth Reddy said water requirements for the proposed Warangal airport should be factored into planning. He also noted that the proposed Adilabad airport was being developed by the Ministry of Defence and stressed the need for strong road connectivity to upcoming airports.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to merge municipalities under the jurisdiction of Singareni Collieries Company Limited into a single administrative unit and said the company’s CSR funds should be used exclusively for local development works.
