Revanth to Embark on Statewide Tour to Celebrate Telangana Formation Day

CM to launch Indiramma Housing Scheme Phase-2 in Asifabad today

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will embark on a statewide tour from Monday as part of the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, launching a series of welfare schemes and development programmes across the state until June 12.

The tour is expected to provide fresh momentum to several flagship initiatives and infrastructure projects while highlighting the government’s focus on housing, agriculture, irrigation, transport and women’s empowerment.

The Chief Minister will formally launch the second phase of the Telangana government's flagship Indiramma Housing Scheme on June 2 at Kothari village in Kerameri mandal of Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district. Before the launch, he will participate in the house-warming ceremony for 28 Indiramma houses constructed for Adivasi families from the Kolam tribe under the programme's first phase. The inauguration of the second phase and a public meeting will be held at Kagaznagar Crossroads.

Under the second phase, the government will sanction 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses across the state, with Kothari serving as the focal point for the launch event. Officials said that with the sanction of 2.5 lakh houses in the second phase, a total of 5,500 to 6,500 houses would have been allotted in each Assembly constituency across the two phases. Tribal constituencies located in Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) areas have been allotted an additional 500 to 1,500 houses.

Officials noted that the first phase of the Indiramma Housing Scheme has achieved results beyond expectations. The programme was launched by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the third week of February 2025 in Narayanpet district, and within just 13 months, nearly one lakh houses have been completed. Another two lakh houses are expected to be completed within the next one or two months. Officials described the programme as a model initiative that could serve as an example for the rest of the country.

For the 2026-27 financial year, the government has accorded administrative approval for the construction of 3.5 lakh houses, including one lakh houses in Greater Hyderabad under the Core Urban Region (CURE) limits and 2.5 lakh houses in other parts of the state. Officials said the government has already instructed departments to implement the second phase in a more robust and systematic manner after incorporating lessons learned from the first phase.

Unlike many states that depend largely on limited assistance from the Centre for housing programmes, the Telangana government has decided to pursue the goal of “a house for every poor family is the government's responsibility” using state resources.

While the Centre provides only `72,000 per beneficiary in rural areas and `1.5 lakh in urban areas, the Telangana government is extending financial assistance of `5 lakh to each beneficiary under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.

On June 2, the Chief Minister will participate in the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

On June 3, Revanth Reddy will visit Koheda in Rangareddy district to lay the foundation stone for a massive integrated market project spread over 239 acres. The market will be developed with modern facilities aimed at strengthening agricultural trade, logistics and market access for farmers and traders. Officials said the project is expected to emerge as one of Telangana’s largest agricultural trading hubs.

Later the same day, the Chief Minister will travel to Mahabubnagar district and stay overnight at Somasila before undertaking a comprehensive review of irrigation projects in the erstwhile Palamuru region.

On June 4, he will inspect major irrigation works, including the Jurala Project and the Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme. The review assumes significance as the government intensifies efforts to complete long-pending irrigation projects in the drought-prone Palamuru region.

On June 5, the Chief Minister will attend a public meeting at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds, where 553 buses procured for `199 crore will be distributed to women’s self-help groups. Under the initiative, the groups will own the buses and lease them to the TGSRTC, creating sustainable income-generating opportunities for women while strengthening public transport services across the state.
