Revanth Says He’s Ready To Appear Before SIT In Phone-Tapping Case If He Gets Notice
Revanth Reddy said about 618 phones belonging to politicians, bureaucrats, journalists, and even judges were believed to have been tapped ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections.

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Wednesday that he is willing to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating alleged phone‑tapping in Telangana, provided he receives a formal notice. Speaking informally with reporters in Delhi, the Chief Minister noted that the SIT was constituted to probe extensive surveillance purportedly conducted under the previous BRS government.
Revanth Reddy said about 618 phones belonging to politicians, bureaucrats, journalists, and even judges were believed to have been tapped ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections. The SIT is now summoning individuals whose numbers appear on that list, he added.
The Chief Minister said he has not received a notice and therefore assumes his phone was not tapped, but affirmed, “If I receive a notice, I will certainly appear before the SIT.”
He recalled that former IPS officer and current BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar first raised the issue before the 2023 polls by lodging a complaint with the Election Commission of India. Acting on the complaint, the EC instructed the then DGP to investigate, bringing the matter into public view.
Responding to reports that relatives of BRS leaders were among the alleged targets, Revanth Reddy remarked, “It would be better to take one’s own life than to tap family members’ phones and listen to their conversations.” He emphasised that the SIT is conducting an independent inquiry: “I will neither interfere in the investigation nor issue directives to the SIT.”
