Revanth Releases Rs.344 Cr for Women SHGs
The government, which has been regularly providing interest-free loans to women's groups, has recently released another Rs.344 crore.

Hyderabad: Giving top priority to women's welfare, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has released a total of Rs.344 crore for self-help groups run by women, to provide interest-free loans.
The government, which has been regularly providing interest-free loans to women's groups, has recently released another Rs.344 crore. Of this, Rs.300 crore has been allocated to rural women's groups and Rs.44 crore to urban groups. The interest subsidy will be directly deposited into the accounts of all groups by July 18.
As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister has asked ministers, MLAs, MPs, and other public representatives across the state to distribute interest subsidy cheques, as well as accident and loan insurance cheques. This programme marks another key step towards providing financial security to women.
During the previous BRS government, there was a complete failure in releasing funds for women’s self-help groups, and the interest-free loan scheme had weakened significantly. Between 2019 and 2023, more than Rs.3,075 crore in interest subsidies remained outstanding. The BRS government faced severe criticism for neglecting women's empowerment.
After the Congress came to power, the Chief Minister focused on women’s welfare and directed officials to release funds under the interest-free loan scheme. The scheme is now being implemented more effectively.
The government itself is bearing the interest on loans taken by women through banks. Since the formation of the new government, it has paid Rs.518.69 crore in interest subsidies to women’s groups. Now, another Rs.344.35 crore has been released. With this, a total of Rs.862.04 crore has been disbursed to women's groups.
As part of the Indira Mahila Shakti celebrations, the government will distribute interest subsidy cheques for loans taken by women’s groups through banks in all constituencies.
Under the Congress government, the timely disbursement of funds has boosted the confidence and enthusiasm of women's groups.
