Airtel to Make Hyderabad 2nd HQ; Telangana Plans AI Campus

Revanth Reddy and Mittal discussed expanding Airtel's digital infrastructure and strengthening collaboration in skill development. The CM said the state government is planning to establish a massive, comprehensive data centre and AI infrastructure campus on the city outskirts.

The CM urged Bharti Enterprises to set up a big data centre, expand Airtel's digital, cloud computing, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence operations in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister showcased Telangana's investor-friendly policies, progressive governance and reforms that have made the state one of the country's preferred investment destinations.

Revanth Reddy also requested Mittal to expedite the development of company's proposed data centre at Chandanvelli and suggested appointing a senior executive to coordinate directly with the state government for the smooth execution of existing projects and future investments.

Responding positively, Mittal said Bharti Enterprises was committed to expanding its presence in Telangana by increasing data centre capacity and strengthening fibre connectivity. He reaffirmed the company's interest in supporting Telangana's rapidly growing digital ecosystem and said Hyderabad was under consideration as Airtel's second headquarters.
The discussions also focused on education and workforce development. The Chief Minister briefed Mittal on the government's reforms aimed at preparing young people for emerging industries. These included the establishment of the Young India Skills University, the transformation of industrial training institutes into world-class advanced technology centres, the modernisation of polytechnic colleges and the comprehensive revamp of government schools.
Welcoming these initiatives, Mittal announced that the Bharti Foundation would partner with the state by providing scholarships to meritorious students studying in government schools and the newly upgraded Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs). The initiative is expected to support deserving students while creating a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of the technology and digital sectors.
