Revanth Reddy Unveils Vision for ‘Future City’ at Amazon Data Centre Groundbreaking

CM pitches Telangana as global investment hub, targets $1 trillion economy by 2034; seeks expanded Amazon investments

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the establishment of an Amazon data centre will act as a major catalyst for investments and industrial growth in the proposed ‘Future City’.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, the Chief Minister said the project would boost investor confidence and attract more global companies to the state. He recalled that the Telangana Rising Global Summit held in December 2025 saw participation from over 3,000 corporate representatives from 108 countries, including Fortune 500 companies.

Revanth Reddy outlined the state’s long-term economic vision, stating that Telangana aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047 under the “Telangana Rising-2047” initiative. He added that the state is working to increase its contribution to India’s GDP from the current 5% to 10%.

Emphasising the importance of investments and job creation, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to providing all necessary infrastructure, approvals and support for industries. He urged Amazon to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Telangana by 2034 and assured monthly review meetings to track progress on investments.

Highlighting policy initiatives, he said the government has introduced sector-specific policies in industries, tourism, energy, healthcare and sports, and established the Young India Skill University to enhance employability.

The Chief Minister noted that Hyderabad has emerged as a global city with world-class infrastructure, including the Outer Ring Road, IT and pharma hubs, and an international airport. He stressed the need to transform the city into a pollution-free urban centre by expanding metro rail, rejuvenating the Musi river and shifting industries out of core areas.

He also announced plans to promote electric mobility by converting RTC buses and autos into electric vehicles, offering tax exemptions for EV registrations despite a projected annual revenue loss of ₹1,500 crore.

Revanth Reddy said the state has adopted a ‘CURE, PURE, RARE’ development model for balanced growth and assured that farmers who gave land for infrastructure projects like the Regional Ring Road would be duly compensated. He directed officials to resolve issues faced by affected farmers and ensure employment opportunities and fair compensation for displaced families.

Appealing to Amazon to further expand its presence, the Chief Minister said such investments would create a ripple effect, attracting more industries and boosting economic development across Telangana.
