CM directs departments to strengthen capacity, prioritise land acquisition and ensure strict monitoring
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to intensify revenue mobilisation and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to plug leakages in tax collections, stressing that meeting the state’s budget targets required a realistic, technology‑driven approach.
He ordered the creation of a dedicated “Chasing Cell” to monitor collections and ensure regular follow‑up on departmental targets. Departments, he said, must strengthen institutional capacity and improve efficiency to meet budget expectations.
Chairing a high‑level review at the MCRHRDI, the Chief Minister asked departments to maximise revenues while eliminating leakages in commercial taxes, excise, mining and other key sectors. He specifically urged HMDA and the Telangana Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) to step up mobilisation.
Revanth Reddy emphasised the use of AI and data analytics in the Commercial Taxes Department to detect evasion, analyse transaction patterns, identify discrepancies in GST filings and flag high‑risk taxpayers by comparing reported sales, income and banking transactions. AI‑powered systems, he said, should strengthen compliance and improve tax administration.
Officials informed the meeting that the department is integrating AI into its compliance framework for real‑time detection of GST evasion, with plans to set up AI‑enabled GST call centres to improve transparency and grievance redressal.
The Chief Minister also directed integration of beneficiary databases with Direct Benefit Transfer systems using AI to ensure targeted delivery of government benefits.
He said budgets must be based on realistic assessments, with adequate allocations for pending projects and land acquisition prioritised to avoid delays. Assuring full government support, he warned there could be no complacency in enhancing revenues and called for a results‑oriented approach to meet fiscal objectives.
