Revanth Reddy Orders Indiramma Housing in Residential Areas Across CURE Zone

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to develop Indiramma housing colonies within residential areas in the Core Urban Region (CURE) zone, stressing that housing for the poor must be located close to workplaces to safeguard livelihoods.

Reviewing the implementation of the Indiramma Urban Housing scheme, the Chief Minister asked authorities to identify unused lands belonging to various government departments within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits.

Officials informed the CM about housing sites identified across multiple Assembly constituencies. The meeting decided to utilise lands owned by the Police, Revenue and Transport departments for the project, with alternative land parcels to be allotted to these departments elsewhere.

Revanth Reddy noted that houses constructed in far-off locations often remain unoccupied due to lack of employment opportunities. He emphasised that future housing should be developed within existing residential zones to ensure beneficiaries do not lose access to livelihoods.

Under the scheme, each flat will have a built-up area of around 528 sq ft with a carpet area of 400 sq ft. While the total cost per unit is estimated at ₹11 lakh, the government will provide a subsidy of ₹5 lakh, with beneficiaries contributing the remaining ₹6 lakh. The government will bear the cost of land.

In the first phase, the government plans to construct 7,680 flats across 17 constituencies, including Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment and Malakpet.

The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite land identification in these constituencies to fast-track the project. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with senior officials, were present at the review meeting.
