Revanth: Congress Flag To Fly In All Municipalities

CM highlights welfare measures, targets BRS at public meeting in Gudur

Nalgonda: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged voters to assess the welfare schemes and development programmes implemented by the Congress government before casting their votes in the forthcoming municipal elections.

He announced disbursement of Rythu Bharosa of Rs 6,000 per acre to farmers for ongoing Yasangi season soon after the municipal elections. He said Rs 9,000 crore will be disbursed to farmers.

He was addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for a Young India Integrated Residential School at Gudur in Miryalaguda mandal of Nalgonda district.

The Chief Minister asked voters, particularly women, to recall welfare measures such as the supply of fine rice to ration card holders, free electricity up to 200 units for domestic connections, free bus travel for women in TGSRTC services, and the Indiramma housing scheme while standing in polling queues. He said electing opposition candidates in local body elections would not benefit towns, as such representatives would not be in a position to secure development funds from the state government.

Expressing confidence, Revanth Reddy said the Congress flag would fly in all 123 municipalities in the state. He assured that funds would be released to municipalities for development and stated that the Congress government would continue in power in Telangana.

Elaborating on welfare initiatives undertaken over the past two years, he said priority was accorded to the poor, tribals, farmers, women and the unemployed. He alleged that no new ration cards were issued during the BRS government’s tenure, and said the Congress government had issued new ration cards and replaced coarse rice with fine rice under the public distribution system. He stated that around 50 lakh families gained from the Gruha Jyothy scheme, which provides free electricity up to 200 units.

The Chief Minister said ₹1.10 lakh crore had been spent on farmer welfare in the last two years and assured that ₹9,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa investment support would be credited to farmers’ accounts for the second time after the municipal elections. He added that there was no discrimination against BRS members in the selection of beneficiaries.

He said 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses were sanctioned in the first phase at a cost of ₹22,500 crore, and that more houses would be approved in the second phase in April after budgetary allocation for 2026–27. Taking strong exception to BRS leaders describing former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the “father of Telangana”, Revanth Reddy said Professor Jayashanker was the architect of the state and that Sonia Gandhi had granted statehood. He alleged that Chandrashekar Rao did not provide political opportunities to the family of the first Telangana martyr during his tenure.

Referring to the phone tapping issue, the Chief Minister alleged that phones of Congress leaders, journalists and others were tapped during the previous BRS government and said Chandrashekar Rao should apologise.

Concluding his address, Revanth Reddy appealed to voters to deliver their verdict in the municipal elections after considering the welfare and development initiatives taken up by his government over the last two years.
